PFL 4 2024 Preview: Women’s Flyweight

Tomorrow night the PFL Regular Season rolls on with the second round of matchups from The Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut. Tomorrow’s nights fights which feature heavyweights and the women’s flyweight division. Tomorrow will determine the four fighters from each division that will move on to the playoffs later this year.

In the featured women’s flyweight matchup of the evening which will serve as the co-main event, undefeated sensation Dakota Ditcheva (11-0) will look to remain unbeaten as she takes on Chelsea Hackett (4-2-1). Hackett lost her first fight of the season while Ditcheva scored a first round win over Lisa Mauldin.

That first round win earned Ditcheva six points which has her tied for the season lead and moved her to 6-0 in the PFL with all six wins coming via stoppage. Ditcheva is currently tied for the lead with former UFC title challenger Taila Santos (20-3) and fellow unbeaten contender, Jena Bishop (7-0).

Something has to give with Bishop and Santos tomorrow night as these two will square off. Of course, there is a scenario where they both can still make the playoffs no matter what happens tomorrow night, but it’s still a huge fight for both of these top flyweight contenders.

Something also has to give with another matchup on the card that squares off two top flyweights who both have three points currently. Bellator flyweight champion Liz Carmouche (21-7) and Kana Watanabe (13-2-1) will fight for a second time tomorrow night.

These two were actually being pencilled in to fight for the Bellator flyweight title before both moved over to the PFL for the 2024 regular season. They first fought back in 2021 with Carmouche getting the first round TKO.

Since leaving the UFC for Bellator and now the PFL, Carmouche is a perfect 8-0. She won a decision over Juliana Velasquez in the season opener to score three points. Watanabe also won a decision to earn three points so whoever wins their rematch tomorrow night will likely punch their ticket to the playoffs.
