One of the more exciting fighters in Bellator is officially a free agent. Former title challenger and current top welterweight contender Michael “Venom” Page (21-2) is officially a free agent. Page announced the news yesterday on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.

MVP signed with Bellator 10 years ago when he was just 5-0 as a professional. He’s blossomed into a top contender and one of the most exciting fighters in the world during his time with the promotion. His last fight came back in March when he made quick work of Goiti Yamauchi.

Page stopped Yamauchi with a powerful leg kick that injured the leg of the fellow welterweight contender. MVP said yesterday that he’s currently unemployed and he’s open to all offers. He also said that he wouldn’t rule out a return to Bellator.

Bellator, PFL, or UFC?

With Page officially a free agent, where is he most likely to end up? Honestly, I think it’ll ultimately come down to what MVP wants. Despite saying he’s open to returning, I personally don’t think he’s going to end up in Bellator. I think this will be a race between the PFL and the UFC.

Page has always said that a dream of his was to compete against the best in the UFC. However, I’m not sure the UFC is going to give MVP the type of money that he might be looking for. Because of his exciting style, I could see them offering good money, but it might not be the biggest offer out there.

PFL on the other hand could definitely pay him the most. PFL is continuing to build momentum and they are even a potential buyer of Bellator as a whole. With their desire to continue deepening their pool of talent, I could see them making a big run at MVP. If I had to put money on a promotion, I’d go with the PFL.
