Bellator 286 Main Event Preview: Patricio Pitbull – Adam Borics

Patricio Pitbull Freire

Tomorrow night in the headliner of Bellator 285, the most decorated champion in the promotion’s history returns. Featherweight champion Patricio Pitbull (33-5) is back as he takes on one of his toughest challenges to date in Adam Borics (18-1).

Borics will enter the cage tomorrow night riding a four-fight winning streak. The only man to defeat him inside the cage is Darrion Caldwell who was able to submit Borics back in 2020. However, he’s been perfect since.

The last time we saw him was against Mads Burnell back in March at Bellator 276. In that fight, Borics put on a sensational performance and beat down Burnell over the course of five rounds. However, his stiffest test of his career comes tomorrow night.

Patricio Pitbull was shocked by AJ McKee back in 2021. The long reigning featherweight champion was stopped in the first round and it looked like a new king was going to reign over Bellator. However, Pitbull came back earlier this year and defeated McKee showing he’s still the top dog. He will once again look to show that tomorrow.

Bellator 285 Prediction

Anytime someone fights Patricio Pitbull, you have to think about what they can do to pull off the upset. Pitbull losing in the Bellator cage is going to be an upset. So what can Borics to in order to knock off the greatest champion in the promotion’s history?

He has to keep the fight at range. Borics is lengthy and has some very nice kickboxing from range. He doesn’t have the pop of Pitbull, but he can definitely win a points battle from the outside. However, does he have the power to keep Pitbull from coming in?

That is what will decide things at Bellator 285. In my opinion, I don’t think he does. Pitbull will use low kicks and his speed to work his way on the inside. Don’t be shocked to see him potentially rock Borics on a blitz during this fight. However, I think we will see more grappling from Pitbull in this one.

Perhaps a lot of clinch and cage work. Overall, I just don’t see Borics being the man to dethrone Pitbull. Pitbull walks out of the cage tomorrow still with his featherweight title.
