Multiple reports indicate that the DH will be used in the American League only in the MLB in 2021. With the pandemic-shortened season, the MLB decided to use a DH in both leagues with fans approving of the decision. Now in 2021, the league will revert back to having pitchers hit in the NL.
However, the MLB CBA expires at the end of next season. The future of the universal DH will lie through the collective bargaining next offseason.
As of now, the DH will be AL-only next season, I'm hearing. The union and MLB would have to expand it to both leagues through bargaining.

A universal DH allows for NL teams to bat a regular player in place of the pitcher. Additionally, it reduces the risk of injuries for pitchers as they’d no longer have to hit and run the bases.
Nothing has been finalized yet. Stay tuned for updates.
