The holidays are here, and they brought even more rumblings, rumors, news and links about the New York Mets. SNY.tv made an interesting prediction about the 26-man roster, while Stony Brook Athletics discussed the latest experiences of Daniel Zamora, a left-handed hurler who will try to break camp with the team in 2020, in Winter Ball.

Cody Allen, a former shutdown closer for the Cleveland Indians, had a showcase. He reportedly sat in the 90 mph range. Could the Mets be interested?

Here are the New York Mets’ latest rumors:

SNY: Danny Abriano took a deep look at what the New York Mets’ 26-man roster could look like. However, he observes that while there should be one or two additions or tweaks, the foundation of the team is already in place.

He detailed every facet of the game: defensive alignments and lineup, bench, starting rotation, and relief corps. The journalist also forecasts that 1B/OF Dominic Smith and INF Jed Lowrie will depart the team via trade.

Finally, he says that with the money saved in the Cespedes’ agreement, they will secure the services of Dellin Betances to the bullpen.

Cleveland Plain Dealer: The paper revealed that relief pitcher Cody Allen held a showcase for 19 teams last weekend. Allen had a very successful run from 2012 to 2017, but his performance started to dip in 2018 (4.70 ERA, 4.56 FIP.) Things fell apart this year, where he had a 6.26 ERA and an 8.39 FIP in 23.0 frames with the Angels.

According to reports, Allen sat in the 89-90 mph range in the bullpen session. The chances are that he will have to settle for a Minor League pact and prove himself.

If the price is only a Minor League deal, the Mets should consider him as a low-risk flier with the hope that he regains some of the arm strength and magic that made him so successful in those six years.

Stony Brook Athletics: The site touched base with Stony Brook alum Daniel Zamora, a left-hander in the Mets’ system that will try to earn a place in the bullpen in the 2020 season.

Zamora recently finished a stint in Winter Ball, playing with the Dominican League’s Toros del Este.
