The New York Mets agreed to one-year contracts with all of their arbitration-eligible players according to Jon Heyman. In total, nine players were eligible.

Noah Syndergaard will get $9.7 million from the Mets. The right-hander had a 4.28 ERA last season, but with a much better 3.60 FIP. Cot’s Baseball Contracts had his estimate at $9.5 million.

Center fielder Jake Marisnick, who came from the Houston Astros via trade, settled at $3,312,500. He will be a part-time player with lots of innings in center field due to his defensive prowess.

The New York Mets also settled with Brandon Nimmo. The outfielder will earn $2.175 million in 2020. His 18.1 BB% was elite and only trailed Mike Trout. He will be the team’s table-setter and will likely score plenty of runs.

The Mets and left-handed pitcher Steven Matz avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $5 million contract. The southpaw earned a nice raise in his second year of arbitration eligibility. He finished 2019 with a 4.21 ERA in 160.1 innings.

One of the team’s unsung heroes, Michael Conforto, is getting $8 million, according to Andy Martino.

Mets’ relievers avoid arbitration

Reliever Robert Gsellman also avoided arbitration with the Mets, settling for a $1.225 contract. The right-handed reliever was inconsistent in 2019 (4.66 ERA, 4.13 FIP in 63.2 frames) but will be an important piece of the 2020 bullpen.

Edwin Diaz was also among the players that avoided the arbitration hearing, according to Heyman. He had a disappointing 2019, blowing multiple saves and finishing with a 5.59 ERA. However, he has the talent to make a major turnaround. The Mets and Diaz settled at $5.1 million.

The Mets also avoided arbitration with stellar reliever Seth Lugo, who will get $2 million for next season. He had a 2.70 ERA and an identical FIP in 80 innings last year.

What about Stroman?

While Heyman announced that the Mets settled with everybody, there were no details about Marcus Stroman’s deal. They should emerge in the next few hours.
