Manchester City is coming off another successful campaign, lifting their fourth straight Premier League title while advancing far in the Champions League and the FA Cup. However, despite all the success, the blue and white’s roster is set to look extremely different next season with the rumored exits of star midfielder Bernardo Silva and elite goalkeeper Ederson. For the second year in a row, Manchester City will look to RB Leipzig for some reinforcements.

Manchester City are interested in Dani Olmo

According to a report by Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness, Manchester City is interested in signing 26-year-old forward Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig. The winger is coming off a stellar season for the red and blue, appearing in 21 matches while starting 12 of them and netting four goals while picking up an additional six assists.

Olmo’s has a €60m ($76.5 million) release clause that expires on July 15th and is said to be only interested in moving from the Red Bulls for an exciting opportunity, which is something the blue and white could undoubtedly provide.

Manchester City will allow the 26-year-old to compete for multiple major trophies yearly and have the finances to sign Olmo. Joško Gvardiol is said to be good friends with Olmo, and the two still keep in touch from their time on the Red Bulls, so that is another point in the blue and white’s favor.

In addition, a move to England would keep the Spaniard relatively close to his home country. Olmo has been said to be interested in potentially playing in Spain and returning to FC Barcelona, where he spent seven years in the youth academy, but the club’s financial hardships make that unlikely to come to fruition at this time.

Why signing Olmo would make sense:

With Silva preparing to leave, Manchester City will need help in the attacking midfield areas of the pitch. Jack Grealish could potentially take over, but the 28-year-old had fallen out of the starting 11 by year’s end and may be transferred out as well. Olmo would provide manager Pep Guardiola with a versatile player who can fill multiple roles and create offense in an attack that may lack opportunities generated from the attacking midfield next season.
