No. 10: Kirk Cousins
Kirk Cousins missed the majority of the 2023 season due to an Achilles injury. However, he is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL when healthy. Now moving to the Atlanta Falcons, the 35-year-old Cousins has a new chapter to write before finishing his story.
No. 9: Brock Purdy
Brock Purdy led the San Fransisco 49ers back to the Super Bowl this season but ultimately came up short against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs’ dynasty. However, it was still an incredible season for Purdy, who made his first Pro Bowl and threw for 31 touchdowns in just his second season. Purdy’s future is bright, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him back in the Super Bowl sooner rather than later.
No. 8: C.J. Stroud
C.J. Stroud burst onto the scene in his rookie season. The Houston Texans quarterback led his team to the playoffs despite finishing with one of the worst records in the NFL one season prior. Stroud has completely turned the Texans around and quickly established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL after throwing for 4,108 yards and 23 with only five interceptions in 2023.
No. 7: Justin Herbert
The 2023 season was disappointing for Justin Herbert, but with new head coach Jim Harbaugh taking over the Los Angeles Chargers, there is hope for a massive bounce-back in 2024. The 2020 Offensive Rookie of the Year has been among the NFL’s best quarterbacks since his rookie season. Herbert’s future is still bright despite an inconsistent 2023 season that was affected by injuries and poor coaching decisions.

No. 6: Matthew Stafford
Matthew Stafford, at 36 years old, is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. He led the underdog Los Angeles Rams into the Divisional Round of the playoffs in 2023 after missing the majority of the 2022 season due to injury. He threw for 3,965 yards and 24 touchdowns and willed the Rams back into the playoffs.
No. 5: Dak Prescott
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is a dominant regular-season performer. He had his name in MVP conversations in 2023, throwing for 4,516 yards and a league-high 36 touchdown passes. Prescott made it to the Pro Bowl for the third time in his career, was named a second-team All-Pro, and finished second in MVP voting. If he could play that well in the postseason, Prescott might find his name higher on this list.

No. 4: Joe Burrow
Joe Burrow is one of the NFL’s elite quarterbacks, and his value to the Cincinnati Bengals’ success was demonstrated this season when he missed time due to injuries. Burrow threw for 2,309 yards and 15 touchdowns in only 10 games this season. Having already won the Comeback Player of the Year award once before, a healthy Burrow in 2024 will be a force to reckon with.
No. 3: Lamar Jackson
The reigning league MVP Lamar Jackson is one of the NFL’s most dynamic players. He led the Baltimore Ravens back to the AFC Championship this season after being named the MVP for the second time in his career. Jackson threw for 3,678 yards and 24 touchdowns and added 821 yards and five touchdowns rushing in 2023.
No. 2: Josh Allen
For as long as Josh Allen is their quarterback, the Buffalo Bills will be Super Bowl contenders. The strong-arm gunslinger finds himself in the conversation for league MVP on a yearly basis. He threw for 4,306 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2023 while leading the Bills to an AFC East championship.
No. 1: Patrick Mahomes
Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to their third Super Bowl championship in the last five years and firmly placed himself in the “G.O.A.T.” conversations. The two-time NFL MVP, six-time Pro Bowler, and three-time champion is the best football player in the world right now.
