Ranking the MLB’s top 10 teams heading into the 2024 season! With the Dodgers and Yankees making some big additions, the upcoming season is gearing up to be competitive and exciting. Let’s take a look at who has the best chance of making it to a World Series! Of course, every list is debatable, so please drop your thoughts in the comment section.
1) Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers had the busiest offseason in baseball, and it’s netted them the best player in baseball alongside one of the best pitchers in Japanese history. Adding Tyler Glasnow and Teoscar Hernandez as well should give them more firepower, and they could see steps forward from youngsters like Bobby Miller and James Outman, who were integral parts of their 100-win season.
2) Atlanta Braves
Every season, you can count on the Braves to have a stacked lineup, and this year’s Atlanta team won’t be any different. Some newcomers in their farm system could step up on the pitching side as well, as Hurston Waldrep is one of the best pitching prospects in the game. Spencer Strider and Max Fried are two of the best starters in baseball, and this Braves team could win over 100 games once again.

3) Houston Astros
The Houston Astros added the best closer in baseball and didn’t have any notable losses, and they’re hoping to remain one of the best teams in baseball once again. Houston has been to seven straight ALCS rounds, and while there are concerns about their rotation’s health and Justin Verlander’s age, they should still remain the class of the American League.
4) New York Yankees
When you look at the Yankeees’ needs entering the 2024 season, it was left-handed hitting, so naturally they swung big and landed Juan Soto. Trent Grisham and Alex Verdugo will supplement a new-look outfield with plenty of contact and power, and Marcus Stroman should bring some stability and competitiveness to their rotation. Relying on bounce back years from Carlos Rodon and Nestor Cortes, the Yankees have some question marks, but their depth is better equipped to handle injuries than they were a year ago.
5) Baltimore Orioles
Baltimore is one of the scariest teams in baseball, with their seemingly limitless pipeline of young talent in their farm system and Major League roster, they added the ace they desperately needed in the form of Corbin Burnes. Jackson Holliday could join a lineup with MVP candidates such as Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson, but they’ll need to hope that the injuries to Kyle Bradish and John Means don’t resurface during the season.
6) Philadelphia Phillies
Bringing back Aaron Nola was the biggest move the Philadelphia Phillies made, but they weren’t a team that was in desperate need of an improvement to their roster. Running it back with some of the most powerful hitters in the game and a bullpen full of dudes who throw nothing but gas is completely fine, and they’re hungry for another deep playoff run in October.

7) Seattle Mariners
The Seattle Mariners had a weird offseason, but they certainly improved, especially when it comes to their lineup. Luke Raley and Jorge Polanco will provide a much-needed boost to the middle of their lineup, and first baseman Ty France has made plenty of improvements to his swing over the winter. Their rotation is arguably the best in the game, as the fearsome trio of Luis Castillo, George Kirby, and Logan Gilbert is now paired with dynamic young arms like Bryan Woo and Bryce Miller.
8) Texas Rangers
While the Texas Rangers are the reigning World Series Champions, they don’t have the pitching that they did last season as they don’t have Jordan Montgomery, and injuries to Max Scherzer have hurt their stock as well. What they do have going for them is Wyatt Langford, who might be the best prospect in all of baseball and could supercharge their dominant offense. Don’t sleep on the Rangers when October rolls around.

9) Tampa Bay Rays
The Tampa Bay Rays will never actually be bad, and that’s something fans have to contend with. Jose Caballero seems like an addition to forget, but he’s an excellent defender and baserunner who could prove a punch in their lineup if he can consistently pull the ball in the air. Junior Caminero is a teenage phenom who can put up big numbers for them as well. What the rotation provides is a question mark, however, as several key figures are still rehabbing from UCL tears.
10) Arizona Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks quietly had an excellent offseason, adding Eduardo Rodriguez and Eugenio Suarez early into the winter, and signing power bats like Joc Pederson to boost the lineup and retaining Lourdes Gurriel Jr., who was a nice corner outfielder for them. Randal Grichuk and Tucker Barnhart should boost their bench as well, and Brandon Pfaadt might take a leap after an excellent postseason showing.
