Breaking down the NFL’s top 10 WORST teams in the NFL after Week 2. Indeed, some big risers and fallers, but the New York Giants might be the worst of the bunch.
No. 10: New England Patriots
The New England Patriots have been surprisingly competitive to start the season, opening up at 1-1 on the year. However, their passing attack is completely stale with bridge quarterback Jacoby Brissett under center. Their rushing attack and strong run defense have led them to a win and a close loss. Plus, the team is playing hard for rookie head coach Jerod Mayo. The Patriots are not among the best teams in the NFL right now but they are a lot better than they were expected to be before the season started.
No. 9: Los Angeles Rams
Injuries are stacking up to form a mountain on the Los Angeles Rams’ roster. Not even Matthew Stafford or Sean McVay can make lemonade out of these lemons. The Rams are falling on their face and their problems look like they’re only beginning as wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua are both sidelined. It’s going to take a lot for the Rams to turn this season around after an 0-2 start.
No. 8: Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears’ offense is just not rolling the way they hoped it would with rookie QB Caleb Williams. He has had some good moments, but is largely struggling to adjust to the NFL game. A lot of that could be attributed to how atrocious the Bears’ offensive line is playing. Their defense has had some solid moments, though. It’s just about getting the Bears’ offense to improve, but that will only happen if Williams starts playing better and living up to his first-overall billing.
No. 7: Jacksonville Jaguars
“We suck right now,” Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence declared following the team’s Week 2 loss to the Cleveland Browns. He’s not completely off the mark. The Jaguars’ offense is broken and their defense isn’t exactly a saving grace. Lawrence is on a seven-game losing streak dating back to last season. He needs to break that streak ASAP.
No. 6: Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders picked up their first win of the season against their rival New York Giants, but it was a bit of a sloppy victory. Their offense never found the end zone and instead settled for seven field goals including a game-winner as time expired to top Big Blue by a final score of 21–18. Their defense is still among the league’s worst and their offense is struggling to put up points despite moving the ball with ease. There is a lot of room for improvement with this Commanders team but it’s not hard to see the potential.
No. 5: Indianapolis Colts
At times, Anthony Richardson looks like the best quarterback on the planet. Then, just a moment later, he looks like the worst quarterback on the planet. He is wildly inconsistent and so is the rest of this Indianapolis Colts team. Until Richardson stabilizes his play, it’s going to be tough for the Colts to consistently compete and earn victories.
No. 4: Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos are a mess. Rookie quarterback Bo Nix is struggling to get things going and doesn’t have a ton of help around him. The Broncos’ defense is struggling too despite having a couple of standout talents. In an uber-competitive AFC West, the Broncos are falling far behind.
No. 3: Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans can’t stop beating themselves. Second-year quarterback Will Levis doesn’t just make mistakes — he makes the worst mistakes imaginable. The Titans fought hard against the New York Jets in Week 2 but came up short and now sit at 0-2. They lack talent on both sides of the ball and keep burning themselves with costly decisions.
No. 2: New York Giants
The New York Giants were so close to earning their first win of the season in a tightly-contested matchup with their division rival Washington Commanders. But a coaching mishap at the kicker position and a fourth-round drop from rookie Malik Nabers ultimately sunk them. The Giants’ defense was also atrocious, surrendering over 400 yards of Commanders offense. At least Nabers looks like an absolute superstar, though.
No. 1: Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers have hit rock bottom and we’re only entering Week 3. They benched 2024 first-overall pick Bryce Young and are turning to veteran quarterback Andy Dalton as their starter. The Panthers might have the worst roster in the NFL and have shown no signs of improvement through two weeks. Maybe Dalton will provide that spark.
