Breaking down the NFL’s power rankings for Week 8! The Eagles are rising, the Ravens are on fire, and much more! Make sure to drop your feedback and thoughts in the comment section.
No. 10: Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles are back in the NFC East race after blowing out the New York Giants in Week 7. Saquon Barkley looked like one of the best offensive players in the NFL in this contest as the Eagles’ offense finally bounced back. Their defense looked stellar too, generating immense pressure. The Eagles are a feisty team that seems to finally be turning a corner.
No. 9: Washington Commanders
Rookie sensation QB Jayden Daniels was knocked out of the Washington Commanders’ Week 7 matchup due to a rib injury and is now week-to-week. How much time he will miss is still in question. But even without Daniels, the Commanders blew out the Carolina Panthers in Week 7 and still look like one of the best teams in the league. When Daniels returns, their ceiling should only continue to elevate.
No. 8: Houston Texans
The Houston Texans lost a hard-fought road matchup in Week 7 but still look like one of the toughest opponents in the league. C.J. Stroud had an off-day but is still the engine driving this team. The Texans’ defense can also force turnovers and slow down high-powered attacks. As more pieces emerge in the offense, the Texans should only improve.
No. 7: Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers made a controversial decision to bench QB Justin Fields in favor of Russell Wilson in Week 7, however, the move clearly sparked something for the Steelers’ offense. Now that the offense is clicking, and the defense is still arguably the best in the NFL, Mike Tomlin’s squad looks like it could be a legit contender.
No. 6: Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers just find ways to win, no matter how ugly those wins come. Jordan Love’s unslinging mentality puts the Packers in trouble sometimes but it’s also the trait that makes him a hero and wins games for Green Bay. Their offense is loaded and their defense just shut down C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans’ offense in Week 7. The Packers are a dangerous squadron.
No. 5: Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings lost their first game of the season in Week 7, however, they still look like one of the top teams in the NFL. They went toe-to-toe with an elite Detroit Lions team in the loss. Sam Darnold is still playing at a high level, enjoying the deep group of playmakers around him. The Vikings’ defense is also till a top-notch unit. The NFC North is fun to watch right now.
No. 4: Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills have their peaks and valleys but their high points are basically mountains. Josh Allen led an elite offensive attack against the Tennesee Titans’ top-ranked pass defense in Week 7. The Bills will go as far as Allen will take them, and he can clearly take them pretty far.
No. 3: Detroit Lions
Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions can seemingly do no wrong. They went on the road to hand the Minnesota Vikings their first loss of the season. The Lions’ offense has the best one-two running back punch in the league and a bevy of receiving weapons. The Lions’ defense might have lost its best player but is still an excellent unit. The Lions made it far last postseason and will likely do that again this go-around.
No. 2: Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson is gunning for his third MVP honors this season. He is off to another elite start to the season and he is not the only elite member of the Baltimore Ravens’ offense. Star RB Derrick Henry looks like one of the NFL’s most dominant players on either side of the ball. The Ravens’ defense is a solid unit too. This team is a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
No. 1: Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are the last remaining undefeated team in the NFL this season. At 6-0, the reigning Super Bowl champions look like they have as good of a chance as any to be the league’s first-ever “three-peat” champions. Patrick Mahomes might not be playing his best football this season, but the Chiefs’ defense is elite, and Mahomes postseason magic feels inevitable.
