Breaking down the NFL’s Week 7 power rankings! The Commanders continue to surprise with Jayden Daniels under center, putting up a fight against the Ravens. Make sure to drop your thoughts and feedback in the comment section!
No. 10: Washington Commanders
It was a battle of present and future in Week 6 with Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels going toe-to-toe against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens came out on top but the Commanders had their moments, particularly some flash plays from Daniels keeping them alive. The Commanders have some limitations but they should hang tough throughout the season thanks to Daniels and their offense.
No. 9: Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers play the most old-school brand of football in the NFL right now. They win with a hard-nosed rushing attack and a suffocating defense. They have an elite pass rush, and their offense is beginning to find an identity, despite their potential quarterback controversy. One way or another, this old-school Steelers team is 4-2 and keeps finding ways to beat their opponents.
No. 8: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers dropped a 50-burger on the road in Week 6, demolishing their rival New Orleans Saints. The Buccaneers’ offense is loaded with talent, and QB Baker Mayfield is playing some of the best football of his life. Their defense can force turnovers, and their offense can explode at any given moment. The Buccaneers won a playoff game last season and could easily achieve that feat again this year.
No. 7: Green Bay Packers
Jordan Love is a gunslinger, and the Green Bay Packers will live and die because of his highlights and lowlights. He has them back on a two-game win streak and is playing some lights-out football, leading a Packers team with elite talent on both sides of the ball. After a deep postseason run last year, the Packers are looking to repeat their success — and it looks likely that they will.
No. 6: Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills have hit a bit of a slump but are still finding ways to win. They secured a thrilling primetime win over the New York Jets on Monday night, improving their record against the division and displaying on national television why QB Josh Allen is still an MVP candidate. They have some limitations on both sides of the ball but will be in it to win it as long as Allen is still under center.
No. 5: Houston Texans
C.J. Stroud is proving that his rookie season was no fluke. He is a true superstar and will likely be a perennial MVP candidate for the foreseeable future. He and the upgraded Houston Texans offense trampled the New England Patriots in Week 6, raining on rookie QB Drake Maye’s first start. The Texans’ defense is elite as well, making them another dangerous squad in the AFC.
No. 4: Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions might have the NFL’s most explosive offense. Their receiving corps has immense talent and with QB Jared Goff throwing the football the way he has been this season, the Lions are tough to slow down. Their rushing attack is tremendous as well and their defense can sink opponents in a hurry. The Lions are aiming to make another deep playoff run this year.
No. 3: Baltimore Ravens
Once again, Lamar Jackson is an MVP candidate. The two-time and reigning league MVP has led his Baltimore Ravens to four straight wins following an 0-2 start to the season. The Ravens have the best rushing attack in the NFL, led by Jackson and “King” Derrick Henry. Baltimore could be in for another deep postseason run.
No. 2: Minnesota Vikings
The career resurgence of QB Sam Darnold has been a joy to watch. The former Jets first-round bust has revived his career this season with the Minnesota Vikings, leading them to a 5-0 start. Darnold does enjoy the company of some elite playmakers and a stifling defense as well. This Vikings team is talented and features an excellent coaching staff. They could make it far this year.
No. 1: Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are the best team in the NFL until proven otherwise. They didn’t play in Week 6 as they were on a bye. However, they will return to the field next weekend still 5-0 with one of the best defenses in the NFL and Patrick Mahomes under center. While it hasn’t been the usual, electric play from Mahomes and the offense this season, they are still grinding out wins. Until someone beats the reigning Super Bowl champs, they are still the NFL’s team to beat.
