Breaking down the NFL’s Week 4 power rankings! Lots of risers and fallers, but the Jets are surging up the leaderboards. Make sure to drop your thoughts and feedback in the comment section!
No. 10: New York Jets
Aaron Rodgers is back. The New York Jets’ defense is back in form, too. This Jets team looks like the one that was promised to fans last season before disaster struck in Week 1. Now healthy and finally realizing their potential, the Jets are 2-1 and only getting better each week. Rodgers and company could be a team to fear in the AFC later this season.
No. 9: New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints cooled off a bit in Week 3 but their first two performances of the season cannot be overlooked. The Saints potentially have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL. Maintaining that explosiveness and finding consistency will be the key for the Saints this season. But the potential is clearly there for New Orleans to sneak up on the NFC this season.
No. 8: Houston Texans
The Houston Texans are by far the best team in the lowly AFC South and are a near-shoe-in to make the playoffs this season. QB C.J. Stroud is only getting better and their defense is still a top unit, despite their tough loss to the Vikings in Week 3. The Texans have an elite lineup of playmakers on offense and a head coach who seems to know how to maximize his roster’s talents.
No. 7: Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers have the best defense in the NFL. And how does that old saying go? Defense wins championships. Maybe this Steelers team doesn’t have enough pieces on offense to actually win a championship, but they definitely have enough talent on defense to suffocate their opponents and win a bunch of games this season. Meanwhile, Justin Fields is creating a quarterback controversy on the offensive side of the ball. The Steelers are a fun team to watch right now.
No. 6: Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles bounced back with a crucial win in Week 3 after an embarrassing primetime loss in Week 2. They shut down what was a red-hot New Orleans Saints offense on Sunday and marched their way to a commanding victory behind the heroics of superstar running back Saquon Barkley. QB Jalen Hurts needs to get his turnovers under control, but the Eagles’ roster is stacked with talent and poised to be a threat to the NFC this season.
No. 5: Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks have been one of the NFL’s surprising success stories this season. Their defense ranks second in the NFL this season and they also possess a top-10 offense. QB Geno Smith has been solid, as has Seattle’s multi-faceted rushing attack. The Seahawks lead the tightly-contested NFC West through three weeks and could be a force this season.
No. 4: Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions are not undefeated, however, their one Week 2 loss came against a red-hot Buccaneers team. Detroit has incredible talent on both sides of the ball and has toughed out some clutch wins in the first few weeks of the season. Head coach Dan Campbell is leading one of the peskiest teams in the NFL once again.
No. 3: Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings are one of the NFL’s biggest surprises this season. QB Sam Darnold has gone from an all-time draft bust to a Comeback Player of the Year (maybe even an MVP) candidate. The Vikings’ offense features elite playmakers in the receiving corps and a strong rushing attack led by Aaron Jones. On top of all of that, defensive coordinator Brian Flores has his unit looking like the best defense in the NFL. The Vikings are dangerous.
No. 2: Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are still undefeated after three weeks but their victories haven’t been entirely convincing. Patrick Mahomes does not look like his usual self and has shown signs of struggle early this season. The Chiefs’ defense, however, is among the best in the entire NFL. Kansas City is still one of the NFL’s top contenders based on championship pedigree and the fact that, even if he is not consistently playing like it right now, Mahomes is still the best quarterback in the league.
No. 1: Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills have looked borderline unstoppable this season. They improved to 3-0 on the campaign after trampling the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football. The Bills’ offense, led by MVP-candidate QB Josh Allen, is among the league’s most explosive. Their defense, however, is suffocating. The Bills are primed for a deep run this season.
