Breaking down the Week 14 NFL power rankings for the top 10 teams! The Lions are dominating, and the Commanders continue their hot stretch. Make sure to drop your feedback and opinions in the comment section!
No. 10: Washington Commanders (8-5)
It felt like the Washington Commanders had the win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 13 wrapped up by the end of the first quarter. Their offense exploded early, and the defense matched that energy. QB Jayden Daniels is the league’s top Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate. What a turnaround Daniels has sparked in the Nation’s Capital’s franchise this season. The Commanders will be going back to the postseason for the first time since 2020.
No. 9: Los Angeles Chargers (8-5)
The Los Angeles Chargers’ defense was lockdown once again in Week 13. They forced Atlanta Falcons QB Kirk Cousins into four interceptions including a pick-six. Justin Herbert hasn’t thrown an interception in 10 weeks as he leads a Bolts offense that, sure, lacks explosion, but possesses elite efficiency. The Chargers are tough to play against because of their stifling defense and ability to win the turnover battle. This will make them a scary opponent as a Wild Card in the playoffs.
No. 8: Baltimore Ravens (8-5)
The Baltimore Ravens’ weaknesses were exposed in a Week 13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. However, their top strengths have been on display all season long, with both QB Lamar Jackson and RB Derrick Henry looking like they could bring home some end-of-season accolades. But will the team as a whole bring home a trophy at the end of the year? Some adjustments will need to be made entering the playoffs to ensure the Ravens’ success.
No. 7: Green Bay Packers (9-3)
The Green Bay Packers made a pair of free-agency signings this past offseason to upgrade their roster and turn it into an absolute powerhouse. New RB Josh Jacobs has the Packers’ offense barrelling through opponents. New safety Xavier McKinney has opposing quarterbacks in shambles, looking like the league’s top Defensive Player of the Year candidate. The Packers are playing from behind in the NFC North but have a few crucial games left in the regular season to climb the standings and enter the playoffs as top dogs.
No. 6: Minnesota Vikings (10-2)
The Minnesota Vikings might not be as hot as they once were, but they are still a strong contender in the NFC. Unfortunately, they play in a stacked NFC North, so their 10-2 record isn’t good enough to lead the division. But with some crucial matchups left on the schedule, Minnesota could make a miracle run into the playoffs as one of the NFC’s top seeds.
No. 5: Pittsburgh Steelers (9-3)
All season long, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ calling card has been their elite defense. But in Week 13, it was their offense that popped off, piling on 44 points in a win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Russell Wilson has added a spark to the Steelers’ offense while the defense continues to lock down opposing offenses. The Steelers are a scary team to face right now.
No. 4: Kansas City Chiefs (11-1)
The Kansas City Chiefs, once again, narrowly escaped with a win in controversial fashion. Somehow, some way, the Chiefs keep finding ways to win — no matter how ugly those wins might look. Patrick Mahomes has the Chiefs’ offense moving with efficiency and maintaining leads. Even if they have shown their flaws in the regular season, it’s hard to doubt the Chiefs and their championship pedigree entering the postseason as they sit with just one loss on the season.
No. 3: Philadelphia Eagles (10-2)
In a battle between some of the NFL’s top MVP candidates, it was the Philadelphia Eagles’ stars that shined brightest in the team’s win over the Baltimore Ravens. Their defense is confusing opposing offenses and setting up the Saquon Barkley-led offense with prime opportunities. The Eagles are in the driver’s seat to win the NFC East and look like a scary team to face in the postseason.
No. 2: Buffalo Bills (10-2)
The Buffalo Bills are the champions of the AFC East for the fifth season in a row. Josh Allen is playing at a superhero level and will be a finalist for the league MVP once again this season. The Bills are stout on both sides of the ball and demonstrated in Week 13 that harsh weather conditions cannot slow them down. As the season draws to a close and the playoffs near, the Bills are getting hot while the world gets cold.
No. 1: Detroit Lions (11-1)
The Detroit Lions are suffocating on both sides of the ball. Their offense can explode for major points at any moment. Their defense can hold rushing and passing attacks stagnant. The Lions have quality depth and star power all over the field. Detroit seems well on its way to another deep playoff run.
