Breaking down the NFL’s Week 13 bottom 10 power rankings: risers and fallers. The Giants are plummeting to unheard depths.
No. 10: Chicago Bears (4-7)
Matt Eberflus looks like a dead man walking. The Chicago Bears have a talented roster. But they can’t seem to find ways to pull out close games. The team makes head-scratching coaching decisions every week and falls short in the clutch almost every time the game is tight. But hey, Caleb Williams is good, and that’s all that really matters.
No. 9: Cleveland Browns (3-8)
The Cleveland Browns upset the Pittsburgh Steelers in primetime this week, showing that they still have some fight left in them amidst this lost season. Backup QB Jameis Winston has stepped in to provide a spark and give Cleveland some fight. But they still have holes on both sides of the ball that have caused them to be held down as a three-win team through this part of the season.
No. 8: Tennessee Titans (3-8)
The Tennessee Titans pulled off an upset win over the Houston Texans in Week 12 as second-year QB Will Levis is turning on the heat and beginning to demonstrate his potential. But the Titans’ roster is still in rough shape with plenty of retooling and rebuilding to be done in the offseason.
No. 7: Carolina Panthers (3-8)
The Carolina Panthers are bad but at least they have some fight to them. They beat the Saints and Giants in Week 9 and Week 10 and gave the Kansas City Chiefs a run for their money in Week 12. Bryce Young is starting to show signs of life as the Panthers become a respectable team down the stretch of this season. Perhaps the future isn’t as bleak as once imagined.
No. 6: New Orleans Saints (4-7)
The New Orleans Saints already fired their head coach, so at least they know they are terrible and are planning ahead for the future. However, that doesn’t change much for them in the present as they possess one of the league’s worst defenses and are sinking to the bottom of the lowly NFC South.
No. 5: New England Patriots (3-9)
The New England Patriots’ roster needs a complete overhaul; except for at quarterback. While they are terrible and their roster does need to be revamped, at least they feel confident in who they have under center. Rookie QB Drake Maye has flashed great potential giving the Patriots hope for the future. But in the present, it’s nearly as bad as it gets.
No. 4: New York Jets (3-8)
The drama surrounding the New York Jets right now is ridiculous. Is Aaron Rodgers too hurt to perform? Will he return next season? Owner Woody Johnson is cleaning the house and bringing in a third party to help identify top general manager and head coach candidates. Every storyline surrounding Gang Green is off the field. Because on the field they are atrocious. This is not how the Jets envisioned this season going.
No. 3: Las Vegas Raiders (2-9)
Injuries at quarterback and a lack of talent on both sides of the ball have the Las Vegas Raiders sinking to the bottom of the NFL. Antonio Pierce’s seat seems to be getting warm despite it being his first season as the team’s head coach. The Raiders show some fight and have a few pieces. But overall, they are one of the league’s worst rosters.
No. 2: Jacksonville Jaguars (2-9)
Trevor Lawrence might not play again this season due to a shoulder injury and, as a result, the Jacksonville Jaguars will need to turn to Mac Jones as their starter. Head coach Doug Pederson has been on the hot seat for quite some time now. As the Jaguars’ season continues to spiral out of control, firings seem inevitable.
No. 1: New York Giants (2-9)
The New York Giants seem like they’ve given up. They were embarrassed on their home turf in Week 12 as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers blew them out 30–7. The Giants are winless at home this season, just recently benched and released their starting quarterback, and are on a six-game losing streak. Could it get any worse for Big Blue?
