Chelsea FC have contacted the agents of Newcastle’s Alexander Isak about a potential move to West London according to Craig Hope of Daily Mail Sport. With Newcastle falling out of UEFA Champions League qualification with their 7th-place finish this past season, the club will have to reduce wages across the board and even potentially sell some of their top assets.
Many in the industry would certainly consider Isak Newcastle’s top asset with a market value well above £100 million. He would almost no doubt break the current British transfer record that Chelsea set last season with the £116 million fee set in the transfer of Moises Caicedo.
Chelsea could be targeting Isak from Newcastle
Alexander Isak is a young Swedish International who came over from Real Sociedad to the Premier League at the beginning of the 2022-23 season with Newcastle United. He played a vital and massive role in Newcastle’s successful season which resulted in them finishing with a spot in the UEFA Champions League for the following season. He bagged 10 goals and two assists in his debut season in 22 games.
Isak showcased his immense talents while not even being the first-choice striker all the time. He solidified his role as the starter this past season, scoring twenty-one goals and two assists in this past Premier League season whilst also scoring four goals in other competitions including one in the UCL.
Isak is a striker who provides quality on the ball, quality finishing, immense pace, and just ridiculous individual brilliance at times. Most football fans remember his moment against Spurs where he nearly dribbled through the entire Spurs XI and assisted a tap-in goal to Joelinton. He fits the Chelsea mold to a tee considering he is Premier League Proven but also only twenty-four years old with plenty of room for improvement.
Could a deal for Isak get done soon?
Chelsea would almost certainly have to break the British transfer fee record (yes again) of £116 million to get Isak. There have been rumors of Newcastle potentially looking into a deal for talented Chelsea right winger Noni Madueke, as well as the club being interested in Conor Gallagher at times.
There would be discussions among the Blues asking if they can get a swap deal done to lower the price which would make sense for all parties, and this seems to be the only way for the deal to get done. C
Chelsea can’t just go spend that type of cash again without breaking the PSR and would need some serious outgoings to facilitate that type of deal. This has been reported by Fabrizio Romano and many others. It’s quite unlikely that this deal will happen, but here is a video of the talents of Isak to get you Blues excited for potentially what could be:
