Chelsea have a long list of outgoings this summer as they continue to overhaul the squad for new manager Enzo Maresca, and the first one to go could be young Albanian striker Armando Broja.

Armando Broja’s time with Chelsea

Armando Broja endured an interesting spell with Chelsea, to say the least. Involving multiple loans, a season-ending injury, and mediocre performance whilst in the first team. He came through the famous Cobham youth academy at Chelsea — being at the club since 2009 when he made the switch from Spurs youth academy over to Chelsea. He had a great loan to Southampton in the 2021/22 season which had promising looks for Broja as the potential striker of the future for Chelsea, only to be derailed by a season-ending ACL tear early in the 2022/23 season.

He was given multiple chances in the first team this past season by Mauricio Pochettino. He scored a couple of times here and there but ultimately did not play well enough while Nicolas Jackson was at AFCON. He was then loaned out to Fulham where again the performance did not reach the standards of being a Chelsea player.

AS Monaco’s interest

AS Monaco is reportedly interested in Broja according to Nizaar Kinsella of BBC Sport. Chelsea is looking for around 25-30 million pounds to offload him which is much less than the 50 million the club was looking for in the January transfer window. I hope Broja gets his move this summer and has a great career – but I amongst many others in the football industry doubt it will be at Stamford Bridge.
