According to David Ornstein of the Athletic, Chelsea have begun transfer talks over the star Frenchman Michael Olise today. With a long and stunning transfer saga last summer that led to Olise extending his contract and staying put in south London, Chelsea aims to go back and get what they have wanted for a while now.

Also according to Ornstein, Newcastle United and Bayern Munich have also contacted Crystal Palace about Olise and want to acquire his talents. Manchester United and Chelsea’s collective looming interest has been known from a report by Fabrizio Romano on May 24th. But now there are a multitude of clubs that are lining up for Olise.

However, The Byline is reporting that Olise would not want a move to Germany which would eliminate Bayern Munich from the running which would definitely help the likes of Chelsea.

How much would Michael Olise cost?

According to multiple sources, although nothing has been confirmed yet, there is a rumor that Michael Olise has a release clause set at £60 that could be activated this summer. There was a report by Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph that Chelsea could be using swap players to try and get a deal done with Crystal Palace.

Law also in his article said that Palace could enquire about the likes of Noni Madueke in a potential swap deal because of what would be the impending need of the right with the departure of Olise.

Where would Olise slot in at Chelsea?

Michael Olise can play three different positions across the frontline including both winger roles and through the middle, though his best position is off the right-hand side. He has an almost dominant and world-class left foot that when cutting in delivers beautiful finesse shots and crosses. He has good pace to be able to beat men 1v1 and would allow for Cole Palmer to play more through the middle which he has thrived at.

In the last five games of the 2023/24 season, in what many consider the best stretch from Chelsea last season, Palmer played in that role. A front four of Mykhalho Mudryk or Christopher Nkunku off the left, Cole Palmer through the middle, Michael Olise off the right, and Nicholas Jackson up top should have Chelsea fans salivating.

The creativity, skill on the ball, and finishing that those players possess are fantastic and would leave Chelsea with an unlimited potential in the attack.
