Yankees-Mets game in jeopardy of delay/postponement (8/29)

Seven up, seven down. The New York Yankees are currently on a seven-game losing streak after doubleheader losses to the New York Mets on Friday. After leading both games, the Yankees gave up a 4-0 lead in the first game and a 3–1 lead in the fifth inning of the second game.

The state of the Yankees’ roster is in peril, with the majority of their premium starters injured for a significant number of games. Leadoff hitter DJ LeMahieu is the only one that could return over the weekend, giving the Yankees some more firepower in the batting order and defensive quality in the infield. He suffered a left thumb sprain against the Boston Red Sox two weeks ago and has been rehabilitating adequately in the meantime. The Yankees are also currently without Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Gleyber Torres.

Interestingly, though, the offense gave the doubleheader their best, but the pitching was the downfall in both games. Usually, consistent relief pitcher, Chad Green gave up three home runs in one inning, blowing a 4-1 lead, and Aroldis Chapman gave up a game-winning home or in the seventh inning of game two. Ultimately, general manager Brian Cashman must be scratching his head in disbelief and scouring the trade market for potential deals.

Getting players like Estevan Florial and Miguel Andujar playing time is essential if he wishes to increase their stock and sell high in the coming days. Most deals come on trade deadline day, so we should have our eyes peeled for movement.

New York Yankees-New York Mets game could be delayed/postponed:

The Yankees are scheduled to play the Mets at 1 PM on Saturday, August 29. The game is in jeopardy of being delayed or postponed due to inclement weather. Showers and possible thunderstorms are circling the area, and the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. The chance of precipitation is 80%, but it seems as if it will taper off at around 7 PM, so they could theoretically push the game a few hours.

There’s only a 35% chance of rain at 7 PM, which could give them an opening. We will provide any updates as they become available.
