The New York Yankees have been in the pinnacle of offseason rumors this year, ranging from almost signing Manny Machado to engaging in talks with Bryce Harper. Don’t forget about the near signing of Patrick Corbin or the deal that almost sent Miguel Andujar to the Mets in exchange for Noah Syndergaard.

Did I mention a JT Realmuto deal that asked for Gary Sanchez and Andujar?

The rumor mill hasn’t stopped churning since the winter hot-stove meetings began, but Spring Training is near, and that means pitchers and catchers will be reporting to practice. Hallelujah!

What does every New York Yankees fan want to hear?

The better question is what are Yankees fans tired of hearing? Just about everything involving trade talks. With spring just around the corner, I cannot wait any longer to hear, “play ball!!” The first pitch of the regular season will whistle into Gary Sanchez’s glove, making that all too familiar sound…”smack!”

Luis Severino slowly walking his way back up to the mound looking to record his first strikeout of the year. Confidence bleeding through his once battered mind. He recalls every game before the 2018 All-Star game as his best, earning potential Cy Young winning grades. The second half of the year didn’t go as planned, but he has faced adversity before, and this season ahead represents something far different…a new chance to prove his doubters wrong.

The talented pitcher looks over to Andujar at third, just to show him that he’s back to his top form; the pitch, a 98 MPH four-seam fastball bolts towards the inside corner. The batter does everything but swing his bat expecting the ball to drop…”strike three” rings throughout the stadium on a quiet spring day. Yankees Stadium is buzzing once again, the fans are convinced that 2019 is their year – improvements were made, maybe just enough to push them to a potential World Series appearance.

So, what does every Yankees fan want to hear? Nothing…Nothing but the crisp sound of a fastball smacking the catcher’s glove. The glorious sound…followed by a promising “Strike three!” And the appreciation from the best fans in the world.
