New York Yankees Provide Positive Gleyber Torres Injury Update

New York Yankees, Gleyber Torres

The same day the New York Yankees get Zack Britton and Kyle Higashioka back, we also get news about the beloved Gleyber Torres. The young shortstop suffered a quad injury that gave the Yankees a huge scare. Injuries like these can sideline players for a while, but Gleyber looks ready to get the ball rolling again and get back up. According to James Murray of the New York Post, Aaron Boone said that Gleyber could get some at-bats in Scranton over the next few days and then rejoin the Bronx Bombers. This is incredible for the Yankees, who’ve had trouble generated offense from the SS position.

Gleyber’s Hot Streak

Gleyber Torres’ numbers look rough overall, but in his last 39 plate appearances, he looked stellar. Gleyber Torres had a .513 OBP, 23.1% BB%, and 175 wRC+. He’s looked fantastic when he’s hot, and he can be a huge help for the Yankees. The Yankees have had issues with offense as Thairo Estrada, Tyler Wade, and Jordy Mercer, who have been awful at SS. This team is in a huge need for an offensive spark, and Gleyber can be just that.

Rattling Names Off of the Injury List

The New York Yankees injury list finally seems to be shrinking. It’s not expanding at a rapid rate, and with the Yankees desperately needing two wins against the Rays and their schedule down the stretch looking easy, they need to get healthy and crush these bad teams. The Orioles for eight games, the Blue Jays for ten games, the Marlins for three games, these are games that can be a huge confidence booster. Get your guys going against bad teams, and they’ll feel ready for October.

This team can walk out of this weekend with two wins sure, but they could also look into next week with Gleyber Torres just on the horizon.
