Immediately following the game, Tampa manager Kevin Cash had harsh words for the Yankees team.

He specifically stated:

“Poor judgment. Poor coaching. Poor teaching.” He added, “It is ridiculous. Enough is enough. It was miss-handled by the Yankees.”

The Yankees managed to escape with a victory, with the final score being 5-3. Thanks to a Gio Urshela inside the park home run that was ruled is a triple with an E6, the Bombers tallied another victory to the win column. Starter Masahiro Tanaka had another solid outing, lasting six innings and tossing 88 pitches.

Goods news and bad news for the New York Yankees:

GOOD NEWS:

The good news, the New York Yankees finally overcame a strong Tampa Bay team, posting five runs and limiting them to three. Leadoff hitter DJ LeMahieu had a fantastic evening, hitting two home runs and logging two RBIs. He sparked the offenses start in the first inning, with a leadoff home run to start the game. Slugger Luke Voit also enjoyed two hits over four at-bats. He is currently hitting .308 with a .701 slugging percentage. In addition, Urshela was two for four, logging two RBIs.

One of the more exciting aspects of the evening was Masahiro Tanaka’s outing. He allowed two runs and three hits, striking out seven batters. He currently has a 3.38 ERA, which is fantastic considering he was hit in the head with a 102 MPH comebacker off the bat of Giancarlo Stanton several months ago.

Aside from Tanaka, Zack Britton made his first appearance coming off a hamstring injury, working at 1-2-3 anymore, and logging one strikeout.

BAD NEWS:

The bad news boils down to several batters and smack-talking at the end of the game. Chapman almost took Brosseau’s head off, which sparked a benches-clearing situation, which is against COVID-19 protocols at the moment.

Gary Sanchez had another tough outing, failing to get on base and striking out one time over three at-bats. Kyle Higashioka, who recently returned from the injured list, also struck out twice. Tuesday’s victory was mostly positive for the Bombers, but Wednesday night’s game will be a tough matchup considering the words exchanged at the end of the game and Kevin Cash’s comments that followed.
