Wait, What?
On Saturday afternoon, Greg Bird was scheduled to be in the lineup for the New York Yankees as they took on the Atlanta Braves in a split squad game in Kissimmee Florida.
Just before the start of the game Bird was scratched from the lineup due to discomfort in his foot. The same foot that caused him to miss so much time in 2017.
Once removed from the lineup Bird was taken back to Tampa to have X-Rays taken.
Update on 1B Greg Bird: Results from an MRI and CT scan taken earlier today revealed right foot inflammation. Bird is scheduled to be evaluated by foot specialist, Dr. Martin O’Malley, on Monday in New York.

Given some time, the extent of Bird’s injury will be relieved, and hopefully the impact on the Yankees on Opening Day will be limited.
Spring Totals:
This spring, Bird was hitting .154 with 1 homerun and 4 rbi’s. Greg’s swing was slowly starting to round into form after a very slow start to spring training.
Monday will be the first of many crucial days for this championship caliber 2018 New York Yankees team. As the unsung key to the Yankees success this season rest on the right foot of Greg Bird.
