The New York Giants may have some competition in the top five picks as the New York Jets just made a major move.
The Jets trade their No. 6 overall pick in the draft for the Colts’ No. overall pick. The Colts also received the Jets’ 37th and 49th overall picks and their second-round pick in 2019.
Trade! The #Jets acquired the No. 3 overall pick from the #Colts for their No. 6 pick, 37th and 49th overall picks in the 2018 NFL Draft and second-round pick in 2019. Major move.

What does this mean for the Giants?
If the Giants were planning on trading back to secure more value for their pick and still take a quarterback, that plan might have been foiled. The Jets can now steal their player of choice if they decide to move out of the No. 2 slot.
Now, it’s likely the Giants will retain their No. 2 pick and go with the Dave Gettleman approach (take the player most likely to be a Hall of Famer).
The Giants are now surrounded by quarterback hungry teams with the Cleveland Browns, Jets, Browns again and Broncos.
For the price of three second-round picks, the #Jets move from 6 to 3… and put themselves in position to take a top QB. They also avoid someone else trading with the #Colts to do the same. … Not bad.

As Ian Rapoport stated, the Jets gave up three high picks to move up just three spots, something the Giants could do and receive even more value. By doing this, the Jets rule out any potential trade up ahead of them, making them a near lock to grab a quarterback at No. 3.
