There are likely two possible career arcs for New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Part 2 looks at the possibility that OBJ goes down a path of Epic Greatness.
What if Odell Beckham Jr. decided to do everything within his power to eliminate the distractions and do everything it takes to achieve a revolutionary Hall of Fame career?
He has the speed, the hands, and the skill to put up historic numbers. In fact, the early portion of his career included several “fastest to” records.
How should OBJ approach his career to do on the field at the WR position, that fellow Giants great Lawrence Taylor did at the outside linebacker position?
Put aside all distractions:
OBJ the celebrity takes a 10 year hiatus. See Drake next in say 2028. Invite him to your HOF induction in 2033 if you want. No more time thinking up TD celebrations. Handing the football to the ref was good enough for Walter Payton good enough for you. All urination and other relief activities takes place in private. Save the French non English speaking club girls for 2029. You don’t need them right now.
In short, dedicate yourself completely to football for the next 10 years.

Dedicate yourself to winning.
State your desire to be the face of the New York Giants. Seek the Captaincy. Assume the role of proper mentor to the young players.
There has been no greater lead by example role model than Eli Manning. Beckham should be that guy. If he too can lead by proper example and stay off the back pages for everything except MVP awards and to collect Super Bowl trophies, the sky is the limit.
The Giants want to build around Beckham. The Giants want to pay him. The Giants can probably see G.O.A.T. potential in this player. It is Empire Sports Media’s opinion that as with Eli Manning, the Giants envision a scenario where Beckham wears one uniform, enters the Giants Ring of Honor, the National Football League Hall of Fame and makes record amounts of money for a WR.
goat or G.O.A.T.? Based on the short track record to date, Odell Beckham Jr. is looking more like a goat that the Giants may very well be forced to trade away. Trade away before he does something irreparably stupid that destroys his trade value.
However, OBJ is young and there is still time. He isn’t actually guilty of any serious transgression to date. He has the skill and talent to be the best. The next step would be to stop declaring he won’t play without a contract, but rather to state he will do everything in his power to make it impossible for John Mara not to give him whatever contract he wants. Giants Nation hope he chooses the latter.
