The New York Giants entered the 2020 off-season with holes all over the roster. The essential task was to provide Daniel Jones with the protection he needs to succeed and bolster the defense with fresh faces. The Giants went ahead and signed linebacker Blake Martinez, cornerback James Bradberry, and signed a bevy lesser-known talents.

They also allocated plenty of draft capital toward bolstering both sides of the ball, which should ultimately improve the team as a whole and give fans something more entertaining to watch moving forward.

Taking a look at one of the New York Giants’ underrated signings:

However, one of the most underrated signings was quarterback Cooper Rush, who has played for the Cowboys the last three seasons and was formerly an undrafted free agent out of Central Michigan. While he has only played five games in the NFL and attempted three passes, he was essential to Dak Prescott’s preparation over the past few seasons. He has served as the number two quarterback for Dallas and has the full backing of Jason Garrett.

“There’s a lot to like about Coop. He’s one of those guys that came in as a free agent and basically just earned his way based on how he’s played,” Garrett said in 2019. “His approach is outstanding. He’s a real pro in terms of his preparation. He’s always ready for his opportunities and just handles situations well. He’s a smart player. He’s an instinctive player. He’s a good decision maker. He’s probably a better athlete and has a better arm than people give him credit for. He’s just done a good job when he’s gotten chances. We like him a lot.”

The Giants currently have Alex Tanney and Colt McCoy on the roster, making Rush a fringe active player. Nonetheless, I anticipate they will keep three quarterbacks on the roster for 2021, including McCoy and Rush. I believe they will let Tanney go in hopes of Rush implementing their system more efficiently alongside Daniel Jones.
